Praise God! This is an exquisitely put-together rumination. For such an indescribably absurd film, you've found some truly amazing words to detail its artistry and effectiveness in a way that does no less than glorify our Lord!

This article was probably more coherent than you expected (especially given what you had to work with). The movie is a once-in-a-lifetime work, just the kind you have a gift for dissecting. I was so very impacted by it too (goodness gracious) but don't know if I could ever eloquently communicate how in such a way.

Aster shows us (perhaps and even probably inadvertently) that we as a race *need* God. Our attempts at being our own means of healing and reconciliation are a failure this film portrays with heartbreaking accuracy, on one of the innumerable layers of its depth. I love all of the points you made about the ultimate constructiveness of its unflinching despair.

This was supposed to be a quick comment, my bad! It is so good to hear of your recovery, and I will be praying to Jesus for your health in regards both physical and spiritual. Please accept my humble kudos once more!

Best,

Hello, my friend! 😀 I know it has been quite a while since you left me this really beautiful comment, but I have always wanted to tell you how much it meant to me! How it encouraged me deeply especially during a difficult season of my life. Thank you! Your insight and praise were beautiful gifts! I appreciate it very much. I also appreciated your prayers for my recovery and health! I have been doing very well! The Lord’s grace has been healing me and transforming me in profound and wonderful ways. He works all things together for our good, as we know, and so even the darkness and sickness is meant for His good purposes and will in our lives. His love is endless and everlasting!

I am glad that my review was able to convey with clarity the spiritual truths of a soul without God and how it leads to a Death unending that this film delves deeply into. I am still very concerned for Ari Aster, haha. For a person to understand existential and spiritual despair at this kind of level, to be able to articulate it with such artful and merciless accuracy, I don’t think he is okay. Not even a little bit. :(

Anyway, I hope you are well where you are now, my friend! May Christ be near to your heart! Blessings from Sayyadina! ^_^
